Do you want to help bring safer materials to the market? Are you skilled at applying regulations in practical assessments? Then you might be the person we are looking for!

Within the department of Sustainable Materials and Packaging at RISE, we work with a wide range of issues related to packaging. This includes everything from selecting packaging materials, evaluating and testing packaging to analyzing entire packaging systems. Our expertise spans from packaging legislation to logistics chain analysis, covering steps such as material selection, conversion, filling, testing, and evaluation of finished packaging solutions. This also includes the evaluation of materials intended for contact with food, among other things through the business group Normpack (http://www.normpack.se).

Normpack was founded by the industry in 1981 and is an established competence center for food contact materials in Sweden. Today, the group has about 175 member companies representing most materials and all stages of the value chain: producers of raw materials, materials and products, food industry, and wholesale/retail. RISE operates and staffs the secretariat within Normpack, and we are now looking for someone to strengthen our team with advice and handling of certification matters.

About the role You will primarily work closely with our member companies, focusing on their challenges and opportunities. Your main responsibilities will include:

·       Handling member inquiries within the framework of Normpack

·       Evaluating underlying documentation, proposing testing programs, and issuing Normpack certificates

·       Monitoring and following legislation in the area, mainly within the EU

·       Contributing to training sessions and disseminating information about the regulatory framework for food contact materials

You will be part of a group of experienced colleagues within the Normpack secretariat. The position is a fixed-term employment for one year with the possibility of extension. Start date is April 1 or as agreed. The location is Stockholm or Gothenburg.

Who are you? We are looking for someone with an interest in food safety and legislative requirements for materials in contact with food. You are analytical and meticulous, with the ability to understand documentation and make well-founded assessments. You work in a structured and independent manner, while also enjoying a role with many points of contact.

As a person, you are communicative and pedagogical, with the ability to convey regulations and requirements in a clear and trustworthy manner. Furthermore, you have good collaborative skills and actively contribute to a positive and professional work environment.

Requirements

·       Academic degree in a relevant field, e.g., chemistry or environmental law

·       1+ years of work experience in a similar role

·       Theoretical understanding of chemical processes

·       Good ability to handle administrative tasks

·       Good ability to manage large amounts of complex information

·       Proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Preferred

·       Experience with food legislation
